The town sits to the west of Bourges in the sloping hillsides that eventually meet Sancerre. The town itself is old and historic with shops and restaurants surrounding the green in the centre.
The Chateau at Menetou Salon is open for viewings in the summer months and houses a classic car motor museum, well worth a visit but do check in advance that its open.
Menetou Salon wines are produced around the town of the same name from the sauvignon blanc and the Pinot noir grapes. Most of the wineyards produce red, white and roses but as the production is small and popular most years sell out before the next production is available.
